NEW WORK    cape exteriors | cape interiors | newton yards | tool portraits

The new work is from the last four years and follows in the footsteps of my earlier paintings. The Cape Exteriors are all from Provincetown, mostly of buildings I see in all seasons. Some of the houses have water views. The Cape Interiors are all small paintings, 12x9 inches, and although of particular places, they could be interiors anywhere, each chosen for its colors, the lighting in the scene, or some object in the composition that spoke to me, such as the little green dresser in the painting of the same name. The Newton Yards exteriors feature fall scenes, with two spring and summer pictures. "Leaves" almost didn’t make it, so tedious was the task of painting the carpet of leaves on a driveway. I'm glad I finished the painting because I ended up liking it. The 8x10 "Tool Portraits" really are portraits, showing the wear of heavy use during the tools' lifetimes.
